Australian Learning Lecture

The Australian Learning Lecture is a ten-year initiative to bring big ideas in education to national attention.

Each lecture around a big idea is delivered by an international thought leader and then supported by a two-year impact program.

Big new ideas are imperative at this point in time; we are in a changing world and Australia needs to give its students the best possible learning and confidence for their future. Furthermore, Australian education faces major problems in disengagement, declining achievement and inequity. These problems have remained persistent despite years of effort. Transformation is needed, not just modification around the edges.

Transformation means understanding a new concept of success and new ways to measure it. It also means new images of what school can be like. We risk falling further behind as many schools around the world have begun to operate on a different and dynamic basis.

It is essential that we work together so that every student is valued and their interests, capabilities and contribution are fully developed for the years ahead.
