Matching for Success secures ARC grant

It is wonderful to be able to announce that Matching for Success, a next generation approach for university selection, has been funded by the Australian Research Council. We are thrilled that this builds on ALL’s Beyond ATAR report and focuses on developing better pathways and measure of student success than a single grade and rank can offer.

It builds on new assessments and certification used by schools which reliably profile each learners’ unique strengths and capabilities. The design, to be validated jointly with school and tertiary sector agencies, is expected to provide better information both for students selecting universities and courses and for universities selecting students.

Hopefully a broader range of students can enter and succeed, decreasing the human and financial cost of students making the wrong choices and dropping out.

The collaboration is headed by Melbourne Metrics at the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Education and includes the Department for Education, Children and Young People; Big Picture Education; Universities Admissions Centre (NSW and ACT);

Four universities, numerous schools and the authorising bodies VTAC; SACE Board of South Australia; and UAC are participating.  Koshland Education Innovation will continue as a partner investigator.
